Case reports published on gastroenterology topics

Reports on lacrimal gland enlargement associated with Crohn's disease and Lemierre's syndrome variant of the gut were published this month.

Two case reports on gastroenterology topics were published this month by Annals of Internal Medicine: Clinical Cases.

One reported a case of bilateral lacrimal gland enlargement resulting from Crohn's disease in a 29-year-old woman. The second reported an unusual gut variant of Lemierre's syndrome in a 72-year-old man who presented with pylephlebitis and Fusobacterium bacteremia, responded well to antibiotic treatment, and made a full recovery. Both case reports were published June 7.
