Case reports cover Bouveret syndrome, coccidioidal peritonitis
Other recent cases discussed colorectal cancer in a colon interposition after esophageal reconstruction and Eggerthella lenta bacteremia, among other topics.
Several gastroenterology and hepatology topics were covered recently in Annals of Internal Medicine: Clinical Cases.
A case report published on March 4 described a 62-year-old man with a case of colorectal cancer that developed decades after colonic interposition for childhood esophageal injury. Another case report published on the same date discussed a 66-year-old man with a history of type 2 diabetes, hypertension, and chronic kidney disease who presented with upper abdominal pain, vomiting, and melena for four days and was found to have Bouveret syndrome.
Additional case reports published March 18 discussed sepsis secondary to Eggerthella lenta bacteremia in a patient with newly diagnosed adenocarcinoma of the rectosigmoid colon; linezolid-induced pancreatitis, hypoglycemia, and lactic acidosis; coccidioidal peritonitis masquerading as acute appendicitis; and multifocal intestinal extranodal marginal zone lymphoma presenting with autoimmune hemolytic anemia.
