Case reports published on gastroenterology topics
One case report discussed a patient with sevelamer-associated colitis, while the other presented a rare case of hypertriglyceridemia-induced acute pancreatitis secondary to glycogen storage disease type Ia.
Two case reports on gastroenterology topics were recently published by Annals of Internal Medicine: Clinical Cases.
The first case report, published July 4, discussed a 77-year-old patient with end-stage renal disease who was found to have mucosal injury from sevelamer crystal deposition resulting in colitis and ulceration. The second, published July 18, presented a rare case of hypertriglyceridemia-induced acute pancreatitis secondary to glycogen storage disease type Ia in a 27-year-old patient and showed that early plasmapheresis was an effective treatment.
